Reds fan Karen Smith could hardly believe it when the club called to tell her she'd won this season's Members-only Golden Goal competition.
Karen from Widnes heard the news on Friday 1 April and at first she thought someone was winding her up! “I was sure it was an April Fool’s Day joke,” she recalls. “I even rang back the club to make sure it was really true!”
It most certainly was – and the first of the many, many prizes was a hospitality package for two for the Premier League match between Liverpool FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC the following day at Anfield, which she graciously gave to her parents. Karen and her mum are Official Members while her dad and two brothers are all season-ticket holders.
“I’ve been an Official Member for a good ten years,” says Karen, “and I’d recommend it to every Liverpool FC fan. There are so many benefits and the chance to win a fabulous prize like this!”
