Oh what a goal!

Presenting, from earliest to most recent, the 10 Liverpool FC goals that made us gasp, cheer and jump for joy in 2016

PHILIPPE COUTINHO

Manchester United (A) 17 March Europa League

Can any Red ever get tired of watching this sublime solo strike in the Round of 16 second leg at Old Trafford? With Liverpool FC leading 2-0 from the first leg, United's tails were up following Anthony Martial's 32nd-minute penalty. That all changed in an instant on the stroke of half-time however as Coutinho silenced Old Trafford with a moment of brilliance to end a move started by goalkeeper Simon Mignolet. Played in down the left flank by Emre Can, he skipped past Red Devils full-back Matteo Darmian before calmly chipping the ball over David De Gea to book a place in the quarter-finals against Borussia Dortmund.

Tottenham Hotspur (H) 2 April Premier League

Kop end, early in the second half, and the Reds go one-up when Coutinho passes home his 10th goal of the 2015/16 season after a one-two with Daniel Sturridge on the edge of the penalty box. On another day he might have had a hat-trick, going agonisingly close on two subsequent occasions: first when he sped past Spurs full-back Kyle Walker and fired hard and low straight across the goalmouth, and later when his right-foot effort wrong-footed Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris but shaved the outside of the post.

DEJAN LOVREN

Borussia Dortmund (H) 14 April Europa League

It was a night that will forever see Lovren's name etched into Anfield folklore. As the clock ticked into stoppage-time, James Milner took a free-kick down the line to Daniel Sturridge, who mis-controlled initially then slipped a pass back inside to a galloping Milner, who stretched every sinew to stand up a cross to the far post where Lovren was waiting. Boom! There had been European comebacks before, but to be 3-1 down and still conquer a team as good as Dortmund was something else. Something special.

ADAM LALLANA

Newcastle United (H) 23 April Premier League

Daniel Sturridge had already scored a beauty one minute into this match, then on the half-hour came another moment of magic, this time from Lallana. Collecting a square-pass from Alberto Moreno, he curled home from the edge of the box in front of the Kop. A sublime finish from a superb talent, the 50th Liverpool FC goal under the management of Jürgen Klopp, and one that meant the Reds had scored more goals from outside the penalty area (14) than any other Premier League team in 2015/16.

DIVOCK ORIGI

Everton (H) 20 April Premier League

This was the opening goal in Jürgen Klopp's first Merseyside derby, and what a time to break the deadlock. Half-time was beckoning when James Milner crossed on his left foot from the right touchline and Origi climbed above two defenders to head home at the Kop end. It was the Belgian striker's fifth goal in his past five games for Liverpool FC in all competitions, and the Reds were now unbeaten in 11 Premier League derbies (won 4; drawn 7; lost none). This Origi effort just beats his similar header against Stoke City at Anfield and his deft finish against Borussia Dortmund in that Europa League second leg, both in the same month of April.

PHILIPPE COUTINHO

Arsenal (A) 14 August Premier League

That man again! Just before half-time at the Emirates up stepped the little Brazilian wizard to send a fabulous free-kick sailing over the Arsenal wall and into the top corner of the net. It put the Reds on level terms and set up a barnstorming second-half display on the opening weekend of the new Premier League season. By now 13 of Coutinho's 30 goals for Liverpool FC in all competitions had been scored from outside the box. For good measure he also converted LFC's third goal, the end-product of another scintillating team-move, in the same match.

SADIO MANE

Arsenal (A) 14 August Premier League

The Reds had gone from one down to 3-1 up in less than half-an-hour when Mane chased an Adama Lallana pass down the right-hand channel, weaved inside and headed for goal. Nacho Monreal and Calum Chambers were tied in knots by Sadio’s searing pace and twisting turn and, with a window of opportunity suddenly created, he let fly. The shot exploded from Mane’s left boot and was in the back of Petr Cech’s net before the Arsenal keeper hit the ground. “Sadio Mane produced a brilliant debut and it reminded me of the impact John Barnes made when he signed in 1987,” wrote ex-Red Jan Molby in his Liverpool Echo column.

ROBERTO FIRMINO

Leicester City (H) 10 September Premier League

Mignolet-Matip-Lucas-Milner-Firmino-goal… This one just edges out Roberto's belter against Arsenal at Anfield back in January (his second that night, bent beyond the grasp of Gunners goalie Petr Cech). Against the defending champions in LFC's first home game of 2016/17, on a sunny day in front of the newly-opened expanded Main Stand, he opens the scoring by finishing with a reverse shot across Foxes keeper Kasper Schmeichel. An honourable mention, too, for Adam Lallana's shot that made it 4-1 in the same game.

JORDAN HENDERSON

Chelsea (A) 16 September Premier League

There didn't seem much on when Philippe Coutinho mis-controlled the ball from a throw-in and Chelsea's Gary Cahill cleared to the edge of the box. Enter Henderson, 25 yards out, intercepting the ball and setting his sights on goal in the same instant. His curling shot was astonishingly precise, beating the outstretched arm of goalie Thibaut Courtois and nestling just under the bar and into the top inside-netting. It sealed a Liverpool FC performance that meant we'd won five of our last nine Premier League visits to Stamford Bridge. Blues boss Antonio Conte, meanwhile, had lost his first home league game as a manager since January 2013, ending a run of 30 games without defeat.

PHILIPPE COUTINHO

Hull City (H) 24 September Premier League

This is getting ridiculous now. The man who could have a greatest goals competition all by himself scored Liverpool FC's fourth against the Tigers with a long-range, right-footed strike reminiscent of his winner at Stoke City on the opening day of the 2015/16 season. This particular one was his eighth from outside the box in the Premier League since the start of 2015, two more than any other player. Just awesome.
