Welshmen have made their first-team debuts this season: Ben Woodburn and Harry Wilson. Overall 31 players from Wales have appeared for the club, and of the 568 goals scored by them, 61% were netted by one man: Ian Rush. The most recent goal was Ben Woodburn's strike against Leeds United in the EFL Cup this season.

Spaniards have represented LFC in first-team fixtures – the most of any nation outside of the UK and Ireland. The first and most recent to play were both full-backs: Josemi in 2004 and Alberto Moreno this year. Between them those 21 players have scored 157 goals for Liverpool FC, with Fernando Torres getting 51.5% (81 goals).

Different nationalities from Argentina to Zimbabwe have represented the Reds in first-team fixtures, and that total could become 44 if goalie Alex Manninger becomes the first Austrian to play for the club.

The year the club's first overseas player, Hugh Lester, made his debut. The American-born left-winger became the first player from outside the British Isles to represent LFC when he played in a 2-0 win at Bradford City in April 1912.

English-born player was named in the Liverpool FC team that started the 1986 FA Cup final against Everton FC. That was Preston-born defender Mark Lawrenson, who won 39 caps for the Republic of Ireland thanks to his family's links to County Waterford!

International caps won by Rigobert Song, the first Cameroon international to play for Liverpool FC. Fellow centre-back Joel Matip became the second Indomitable Lions defender to wear a Liver Bird upon his chest when he made his debut this season.

Men who have played first-team football for Liverpool FC have represented African nations in international football. The nationalities are: Cameroon (3), Guinea (1), Ivory Coast (1), Mali (2), Morocco (2), Nigeria (1), Senegal (3), South Africa (3) and Zimbabwe (1).

Different nationalities have managed Liverpool FC: English, Irish, Scottish, French, Spanish, Northern Irish and German. Ten Englishmen have managed LFC on a permanent basis: Tom Watson, George Patterson, David Ashworth, George Kay, Don Welsh, Phil Taylor, Bob Paisley, Joe Fagan, Roy Evans and Roy Hodgson.

Czechs featured prominently in Liverpool FC's Champions League triumph of 2004/05. Milan Baros led the line for the majority of the games on the way to that fifth European Cup and played a major part in the build-up to LFC's equalising penalty in the final against AC Milan. Prior to that moment of course Vladimir Smicer had made it 3-2 with a shot from just outside the box; Smicer would also score in the subsequent penalty shootout.

Brazilians to play for the Reds. We had to wait until the Noughties to sign our first boy from Brazil: Fabio Aurelio who arrived in the summer of 2006 from Valencia where he'd worked with Rafael Benitez. Then came Lucas Leiva, Diego Cavalieri, Alexander Doni, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino.

New Zealander in the Liverpool Ladies FC team: attacker Rosie White became the first Kiwi to play senior football for LFC when she signed in 2015.

Goals by one superb South African striker: Johannesburg-born Gordon Hodgson was a prolific goalscorer at Anfield between 1925 and 1936. His tally of 241 goals came in just 377 LFC appearances and included 17 hat-tricks.

When Jordan Henderson captained England against Spain earlier this season he became the 13th Liverpool FC player to do so, following in the footsteps of Ephraim Longworth, Tommy Lucas, Emlyn Hughes, Kevin Keegan, Phil Thompson, Ray Clemence, Phil Neal, Peter Beardsley, Paul Ince, Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard and James Milner.
