The Club's third LFC World event has just come to a close. Hong Kong was the venue this time – and like the previous roadshows it was a massive success.
LFC World, created by Liverpool FC and Standard Chartered, is an immersive fan-experience that brings the club closer to its passionate supporters around the globe. It takes in four destinations: Singapore was the first stop followed by Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong, and soon it will be Shanghai!
Among the many special experiences, fans get a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet some of LFC's greatest former players – plus of course the Club's official mascot Mighty Red! There's also the chance to attend exclusive match-viewing parties, test your football skills against 'Robokeeper', play in an official LFC soccer school and win some amazing prizes.
LFC World Hong Kong took place in early March at the Cityplaza shopping mall in Taikoo Shing. There to meet an army of Reds fans – including the Hong Kong Local Supporters Club and Hong Kong Expatriate Supporters Club – were LFC Legends Luis Garcia, Jason McAteer, Vladimir Smicer, Patrik Berger and Sami Hyypia. The former players took part in a thrilling contest of ‘Putting Penalties’, attempted to beat 'Robokeeper', and even received a masterclass in kung-fu before rolling back the years in a five-a-side tournament.
A party took place to watch the Premier League fixture between Liverpool FC and Arsenal FC, while a stunning virtual-reality experience called 'Inside Anfield' and made possible by Standard Chartered, took fans into the world-famous stadium with the aid of headsets and earphones. There were also fun and interactive football challenges hosted by Konami, LFC's official gaming partner and LFC World-supporting partner, and Malaysia Airlines, LFC's official airline and fellow LFC World-supporting partner.
Previously LFC World visited Kuala Lumpur last December, with fans from the Kuala Lumpur Supporters Club and Malaysia Supporters Club getting the chance to meet Patrik Berger, Vladimir Smicer, Robbie Fowler and Bruce Grobbelaar as well as receive amazing giveaways and on-the-spot prizes. And the month before, it all kicked off in Singapore with Garcia joined by Ian Rush and Gary McAllister meeting members of the Singapore Supporters Club and Singapore East Supporters Club.
Luis sums up the magic of each roadshow: “The LFC World experience is fun and informative but most importantly it means our fans can get closer to the club.” Vladimir Smicer adds: “For many supporters it is difficult to get to home games, it's far away. But they get this opportunity to come to LFC World and they can touch a little bit of Anfield.”
