Liverpool Ladies FC
England expects
What attracted you to join Liverpool Ladies FC?
It's obviously a well-established club. It's a top four contender and has been for many years and it's a club that has a great history behind them. Scott (Rogers) got in touch and just sold it to me really. At the end of the day I'm a young player and I want to play. Liverpool finished the Spring Series in fourth position and I believe we can keep improving and hopefully I can help the team to do that.
We understand Steven Gerrard was your footballing hero?
Oh my goodness, I absolutely loved him! I thought he was a great player who had just about everything in his game. He was the complete midfield player and a real inspiration to aspiring young footballers like me.
You played as a wing-back for Chelsea in the Spring Series but where do you see yourself playing in the next 12 months
As a forward! Anywhere along the front line would be fine for me. I went to Chelsea as a forward and for the latter season I played as a left-sided wing-back but that's not the position I see myself in or where I believe my strengths lie. I think Scott knows that I am more effective up-top and the plan is to use me up there.
A lot of the girls say how highly they rate Scott Rogers as a coach?
He's a guy who knows what he wants and he knows what he wants out of his players. If he doesn't get that then I'm sure that you'll quickly learn that you need to start performing. I think he's got a good ethos here and how he portrays himself to his team and his staff and his work ethic towards the girls, says a lot. I had numerous conversations with him over the week before I signed and I just couldn't wait to get going with it.
How did you start playing football?
I was about six-years-old and I was at my grandmas during the summer and a young boy that I went to school with used to play football with me in the street. One day he just asked me and my sister to join his football team. So we started off in a boys' team in Barnsley called Junior Tykes when we were young and that was it, I just fell in love with it from then. When we got to an age where girls couldn't play with boys anymore, we were scouted to go to Sheffield United Academy and then the story writes itself: Academy, Doncaster Rovers Belles, Chelsea and now here at Liverpool.
What do you hope to achieve in the next 12 months?
My goals are simple, I just want to play and score and put my marker down, especially for the England set-up. I've been involved in that for quite a number of years but my time with the Under-23s has come to an end now so my next focus now is obviously seniors. That's a really tough team to get into at the minute and they've got some really great players but, again, the more I improve, the better chance I'll have of knocking on their door.
