Frank Lampard

For the third time in four seasons Chelsea FC will start a Premier League season with a new manager following the appointment of club legend Frank Lampard.

The former Chelsea FC midfielder led a Derby County FC side featuring LFC's Harry Wilson to the Championship Play-Off final last season, his first as a manager, but has now returned to Stamford Bridge to take over from Maurizio Sarri following his appointment as Juventus FC boss.

Sarri led Chelsea FC to success in the UEFA Europa League last season – meaning they will face the Reds in the UEFA Super Cup – and to third in the Premier League, but with the Blues having been hit by a two-window transfer ban by FIFA for a breach of regulations it means Lampard will have to rely on the squad he inherited.

American midfielder Christian Pulisic was signed from Borussia Dortmund before the ban was imposed while Mateo Kovacic completed a permanent move to Stamford Bridge after being on loan there last season, but much will depend on how the West Londoners cope with losing star man Eden Hazard to Real Madrid CF.
