Ole Gunnar Solksjaer begins his first full season in charge at Old Trafford facing UEFA Europa League football following the Red Devils' sixth placed finish – 32 points behind Manchester City FC – and has turned to youth to try to restore his club's fortunes.

Swansea City FC's 21-year-old Welsh international winger Daniel James was Manchester United FC's first new summer signing and he has been joined at Old Trafford by another 21-year-old, Crystal Palace FC's England Under-21 international right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Experienced club captain Antonio Valencia has been released after a decade of service for the Club while Ander Herrera has departed for Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer, but not before calling for Manchester United FC fans to be more like Liverpool FC supporters.

“The club will need time, confidence and support,” he said. “I am sure they will give it, but the only thing I ask for them is time because this is not easy. Liverpool have done incredible work, but the fans have given them time. That's what this club needs at the moment.”
