Norwich City FC

Daniel Farke

Liverpool FC's opening-night opponents won just one of their first six games in The Championship last season, but under the management of Daniel Farke, previously in charge of Borussia Dortmund II, lost just three of their next 40 games and surged to promotion as champions.

It was something of a surprise success, having finished fourteenth a year earlier, and Farke has spent the summer strengthening his squad with 10 new players already brought in to boost the ranks at Carrow Road as Norwich City FC aim to avoid relegation.

Scottish goalkeeper Archie Mair (Aberdeen FC), Belgian defenders Rocky Bushiri (KV Oostende) and Rob Nizet (RSC Anderlecht), English defender Sam Byram (West Ham Untited FC) and midfielder Daniel Adshead (Rochdale FC), English-born Scottish midfielder Charlie Gilmour (Arsenal FC), Scottish winger Aidan Fitzpatrick (Partick Thistle FC) and Swiss striker Josip Drmić (Borussia VfL 1900 Mönchengladbach) have all signed permanent deals. Experienced German goalkeeper Ralf Fährmann (FC Schalke 04) and winger Patrick Roberts (Manchester City FC) have arrived in East Anglia on loan.

“I am pretty sure there will be difficult times this season, but we have to stick to our principles and philosophy and how we want to attack football games with bravery,” said Farke. “We know how difficult it will be, but let's work the next miracle.”
