Danny Ings spent last season on loan at St Mary's from Liverpool FC and completed a permanent move to Southampton FC on July 1st after netting seven goals in 24 appearances in 2018/19.
“I've looked after myself over the summer and I'm just raring to go for the new season,” said the 26-year-old. “It's a big season for me. I feel like it's my most exciting really.”
Ings isn't the only player that manager Ralph Hasenhüttl, who took charge of the Saints last December following the departure of Mark Hughes, has brought in with Birmingham City FC striker Che Adams and Royal Standard de Liege's 20-year-old Mali international winger Moussa Djenepo also switching to the South Coast.
“It is about getting this right sort of quality, not quantity,” said Hasenhüttl regarding Southampton FC's summer transfer policy. “We must maximise the use of this window by spending our money in the right way and on the right type of player, and this is a very strong start.”
