Premier League Preview
Watford FC
Watford FC finished eleventh in the Premier League last season – their highest top-flight position since 1986/87 in John Barnes' final season at Vicarage Road before his move to Anfield – and reached a first FA Cup final since 1984.
That represented a successful campaign for Javi Gracia's side, but having been stung 6-0 in the FA Cup final by Manchester City FC at Wembley, the Hornets will want to put that heavy defeat behind them as quickly as possible when the Premier League season kicks off.
Versatile defender Craig Dawson has been Watford FC's only first-team signing so far, arriving from West Bromwich Albion FC, with defenders Miguel Britos and Tommie Hoban departing, and boss Gracia believes keeping last season's side together is imperative this summer.
“The objective is to be more demanding than last season and although other clubs are stronger with new players, I think we are lucky to keep players we had last season and this is our strength,” he said. “We now have to work hard, to be well prepared and after we will see.”
