Moving On
Daniel Sturridge
In seven seasons and 160 appearances for Liverpool FC, Daniel Sturridge netted 67 goals – 50 of them in the Premier League. It's a tally that puts Sturridge 34th on LFC's all-time leading goalscorer list, although with Bobby Firmino one behind him on 66 he won't hold that position for long.
Signed from Chelsea FC in January 2013, Sturridge was an instant success. He became the first LFC player to score in his first three successive games since Ray Kennedy in 1974 and netted 11 goals in 16 games including a hat-trick at Fulham FC during that season. He also became known for his 'wriggly arm dance' goal celebration.

Manager Brendan Rodgers paired Sturridge with Luis Suarez up front and their goalscoring partnership flourished in 2013/14 with the duo netting 55 goals between them (Suarez 31, Sturridge 24) as the Reds challenged for the Premier League title.
Sturridge was also earning himself a reputation as a forward who scored in big games – he got an Anfield winner against Manchester United FC and three in two games against Everton FC – but injuries restricted him to just 12 starts in 2014/15.
He flourished again under Jürgen Klopp's management in 2015/16, scoring important UEFA Europa League goals against Manchester United FC, Villarreal CF and then Sevilla FC in the final, but over the next three seasons Sturridge was less of a regular starter as Liverpool FC evolved under Klopp.

The opening goal in LFC's 3-2 UEFA Champions League group stage win over Paris Saint-Germain FC in 2018/19 was another important contribution, and had the Reds won the Premier League his late long-range equaliser at Chelsea FC would have been considered priceless.
That sensational strike was one of 13 Sturridge scored for Liverpool FC as a substitute – only David Fairclough (18) has got more – and as he moves on to pastures new the fact that Kopites would chant 'Sturridge' in the style of the famous 'St John/Dalglish/Fowler' handclap is a reminder of how much the UEFA Champions League winner's goalscoring exploits were appreciated.
Alberto Moreno
From the land of yellow submarines to a Spanish football club nicknamed the Yellow Submarine, Alberto Moreno has signed for Villarreal CF after his five-season stint as a Liverpool FC player came to an end.
The 27-year-old left-back arrived at Anfield from Sevilla FC in the summer of 2014 and was a regular during his first two seasons as a Red, clocking up 91 appearances and also scoring three goals. His first came in a 3-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur FC in his first away game for the Club with his other strikes coming at Anfield against Swansea City FC and Stoke City FC.
That 2015/16 season saw Jürgen Klopp replace Brendan Rodgers as Liverpool FC manager and the Reds ended the campaign with a 3-1 defeat to Alberto's former club Sevilla FC in Basel. It was a difficult evening for Moreno and he lost his place at left-back to James Milner in 2016/17, making just 18 appearances.

After returning to the side in 2017/18 the Spaniard was a regular again until suffering an ankle injury during the 7-0 UEFA Champions League group stage win against FC Spartak Moscow at Anfield. It opened the door for summer signing Andy Robertson to get a run in the team and he took it with both hands, nailing down his place as Klopp's first-choice left-back.
Alberto started just eight more games for LFC over the next 18 months with his final appearance coming in the FA Cup in January 2019 against Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, although he was an unused substitute in the UEFA Champions League final. He returned to Spain having appeared 141 times for the Reds in total – and as a European Cup winner.
“Alberto is someone whose personality is reflected in how he plays – full of life, full of energy, always positive,” said Jürgen Klopp. “An unbelievable character who is always willing to give all of himself for the team.”
