To mark the 30th anniversary of Liverpool FC's last Football League title success, we look back at the 1989/90 campaign and the 22 players who made the Reds champions...

Kenny Dalglish's Liverpool FC entered the 1989/90 season still reeling from the way the previous season had ended. After lifting the FA Cup against Everton FC at Wembley, the Reds could clinch the double by winning the league against title-rivals Arsenal FC at Anfield on the final day of the season – if they avoided defeat by two goals or more.
 
The Gunners won 2-0 with a dramatic 90th minute stoppage time goal from Michael Thomas handing Arsenal FC the championship on goals scored with both clubs finishing level on points and goal difference.

That summer Dalglish made just one major signing, Swedish international centre-back Glenn Hysén arriving from ACF Fiorentina, and the Reds kicked off their league campaign with a 3-1 win against Manchester City FC at Anfield. It proved to be the start of an 18th title-winning season...
