Born in Basingstoke, England on 14 September 1997, Solanke is 19-years-old.
He is the first player to arrive at Liverpool FC from Chelsea since Victor Moses joined on a season-long loan in 2013! Dom has chosen to wear number 29 for LFC, a shirt nobody has worn since Stephen Wright 15 years ago! Let's hope it's a lucky number!
Solanke came through the ranks at Chelsea but only played one game for the Blues before going on loan to Holland to play for Vitesse where he scored seven goals. He loves playing up front! “My favourite position would be as the striker, number 9, but I can play behind the striker in a 10 position or out wide so I think I'm quite versatile.”
Dom has made quite an impression for England's youth teams. In 2014 he scored in the final of the Under-17s European Championships before England won the tournament on penalties. And this summer he was part of the England team that won the Under-20 World Cup and played so well that FIFA gave him the Golden Ball for being player of the tournament!
A few years ago he also scored a hat-trick for Chelsea against Liverpool Under-21s. Boooo! But we'll forgive him because he wants to score lots of goals for LFC now. “I just want to make an impact. Hopefully when I get my opportunity I can take it and help the team. Liverpool has got a lot of good young players so hopefully everyone can play their part!”
