Back on 1st October 1980 Bob Paisley's Reds played Oulu Palloseura of Finland at Anfield in the European Cup and thrashed them 10-1 with both Graeme Souness and Terry McDermott scoring hat-tricks! It's one of only five games that Liverpool FC have ever scored 10 goals in but Roy Evans' Reds managed six at Anfield on 28th October 1995 against Manchester City with the RAF – Rush and Fowler – firing two goals each in a 6-0 success.
Merseyside derby wins have been common in October with the Reds beating the Blues 3-1 at Anfield on both 16th October 1976 and 29th October 2000 while LFC recorded wins across Stanley Park on 20th October 2007 (2-1, Dirk Kuyt scoring both) and 1st October 2011 (2-0, Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez putting the ball into the Everton net). Liverpool FC have also had a couple of good 2-0 Anfield victories against Manchester United on 12th October 1968 and 25th October 2009 when Pepe Reina celebrated David Ngog's goal by running from the Anfield Road end to the Kop!
John Barnes scored one of his most famous goals when he dribbled past half the QPR team in a 4-0 victory at Anfield on 17th October 1987 and on 19th October 2014 a crazy game at QPR's Loftus Road finished 3-2 to the Reds after Philippe Coutinho, Steven Gerrard (own goal, doh!) and Steven Caulker (own goal, woo-hoo!) all netted in stoppage time when the score had been 1-1 after 90 minutes.
You might also remember two cracking October wins since Jürgen Klopp has been LFC manager. On 31st October 2015 the Reds had a happy halloween at Stamford Bridge when Coutinho ghosted past Chelsea's defence to score twice in a 3-1 win and on 29th October 2016 Emre Can, Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip and Roberto Firmino were all on target as Crystal Palace were beaten 4-2 at Selhurst Park. Great memories!
